New group L’Epee have shared their storming single ‘Dreams’.…
The project hinges on the involvement of Brian Jonestown Massacre founder Anton Newcombe, who recently produced an album by husband and wife duo The Limiñanas.
Joined in the studio for one song by French artist Emmanuelle Seigner, her vocals seemed to unlock something new.
L’Epee was formed as a result, with the four piece engaging in recording sessions in Cabestany, France and at Anton’s Cobra Studio in Berlin.
An album drops this summer, with L’Epee – the name means ‘sword’ in French, and came to Anton in a dream – sharing their fantastic new single ‘Dreams’ ahead of this.
Out on May 17th via Anton’s a recordings label, it’s a crisp piece of French language guitar pop that traces psychedelic pathways across a clear blue sky.
It’s a blissful start, full of poise and purpose, matching impeccable melody to that driving rhythm.

The families behind brands like Chateau Latour and Moët & Chandon have promised millions after a fire damaged the cathedral on April 15.
Officials in Paris are still assessing the damage of yesterday’s devastating blaze at the famed Notre-Dame Cathedral. But though the cause and full extent of the fire may not yet be known, one thing is already certain: Money is pouring in to repair the 850-year-old structure — including massive donations from two major names in the world of French wine.
The news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP) reports that two French billionaires, Francois Pinault and “crosstown rival” Bernard Arnault, have pledged to donate 100 million euros ($124 million) and 200 million euros ($248 million) respectively to help rebuild the iconic cathedral. [ . . . ]

For sure, Rodolphe Burger is an unclassifiable musician. It is the poster of the Printemps de Bourges Friday, April 19, with, as right, a creation for the least singular since it was especially designed for the abbey of Noirlac, near Saint-Amand-Montrond.
For the Republican Berry , the guitarist talks about his taste for the acoustics of religious buildings, the trigger that rock music of the 1960s triggered, the festival he created in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, his hometown in Alsace, or his projects with the jazzman Jeff Blood Ulmer and the Breton singer Erik Marchand.
He also evokes the fraternal bonds he had forged with the man he always calls affectionately “Jacques”. Thursday, April 18, he will also be on the stage of the Palais d’Auron, along with fifteen other musicians, for a concert in tribute to the artist, who died in 2018.
You will perform in an atypical place, for a musical festival, which is the abbey of Noirlac. What are you going to propose to the public of Printemps de Bourges that will go to this place?
It’s a chance to play at the abbey, which is an extraordinary place. I visited it, in view of this concert, and I made a proposal very related to this place. A first time in the abbey, a little thing quite acoustic, with bassist Sarah Murcia, who used to accompany me. And then, in trio, always with Sarah and the percussionist Christophe Calpini, a second concert in the refectory, where I will present new things, that I will play for the first time and which will appear on my new album, which will be released very soon.
