Which do you prefer?

The Javanaise (written by Serge Gainsbourg)

Hélas avril en vain me voue à l’amour

Madeleine Peyroux

The Javanaise (English Translation)

I confess, I went through hell, not you,
My love.
Before I got wind of you,1
My love.

Whether you admit it or not
As we danced the Javanaise,
We loved each other
For the time of one song.

In your opinion, what have we seen
Of love?
From you to me, you have had me,
My love.

Whether you admit it or not
As we danced the Javanaise,
We loved each other
For the time of one song.

Alas, April was in vain
When it came to love.
I felt like seeing
That love in you.

Whether you admit it or not
As we danced the Javanaise,
We loved each other
For the time of one song.

Life is not worth being lived
Without love,
But it’s you who wanted it,
My love.

Whether you admit it or not
As we danced the Javanaise,
We loved each other
For the time of one song.

Chanson du Jour: “Si tu vois ma mère”

Quand je pense à toi,
soudain je revois,
je ne sais pourquoi le jardin fleuri.
D’où tu m’as souri,
quand je suis partie,
souviens-toi.
Depuis ce temps je voyage,
et sur toutes les routes.
À jamais ton doux visage,
qu’un rêve effleure, demeure.
Car le temps qui fuit,
au vent de l’oubli,
passera sans bruit sans rien effacer.
Maman tu le sais,
rien ne peut changer le passé.
Je me souviendrai,
de tes yeux jusqu’à mon dernier jour.
Maman, mon plus tendre amour.

Chanson du Jour: “LES MOULINS DE MON COEUR”

Round like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning on an ever spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain, or a carnival balloon
Like a carousel that’s turning running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes of its face
And the world is like an apple whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mindLike a tunnel that you follow to a tunnel of its own
Down a hollow to a cavern where the sun has never shone
Like a door that keeps revolving in a half forgotten dream
Or the ripples from a pebble someone tosses in a stream
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes of its face
And the world is like an apple whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mindKeys that jingle in your pocket, words that jangle in your head
Why did summer go so quickly, was it something that you said?
Lovers walking along a shore and leave their footprints in the sand
Is the sound of distant drumming just the fingers of your hand?
Pictures hanging in a hallway and the fragment of a song
Half remembered names and faces, but to whom do they belong?
When you knew that it was over you were suddenly aware
That the autumn leaves were turning to the color of her hair!
Like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning on an ever spinning reel
As the images unwind, like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind
