‘Stop the Paris rat genocide’: Activists call for contraceptives not a ‘massacre’

This story from France’s The Local brought to mind Pixar’s brilliant animated film Ratatouille. Now I ask you, who would wish to exterminate Remy? If a contraception plan could be effective (or at least more effective than the rythm method) why not first give it a try? Paris, you have my blessing to forward the bill for this expense to Trump Towers. – Editor 


A campaign by Paris city chiefs to clear out rats from the streets and parks has angered animal rights activists, who want the city to come up with a contraceptive plan rather than massacre the rodents.

Paris tourism workers to get English lessons

One of the proposals, which is sure to be music to Anglophone ears, is the introduction of training sessions to teach basic English to those working in the tourism sector, including bus and taxi drivers as well as staff at museums, hotels and restaurants.

Damien Rice: Paris sidewalk concert

Back in the summer of 2015, Irish troubadour Damien Rice gave a surprise late night concert on a Paris sidewalk. Despite Rice’s hoarse voice, and the occasional banging and clanking noise from his roadies hauling equipment, this petit concert video is quite beautiful. Listen to Damien’s french fans singing his english lyrics, as one unseen fan provides occasional excellent harmonies (was actress/singer/collaborator  Mélanie Laurent among the crowd?) Love it.
